Where do I even start? I’ve known Lauren and Dusty for years now. I grew up with my sister being best friends with Dusty’s sister, Kristen and their mom, Sindi who was even my husband and I’s landlord at one point! So to say this family has a special place in my heart is an understatement. I was so excited when they asked me to shoot their engagement and their wedding at the Gem Theatre in Detroit Michigan this past September. When we arrived to the Greektown Casino Hotel (which has the most beautiful natural light due to having several floor to ceiling windows – highly recommend getting ready here!) I was immediately greeted with hugs and excitement. Lauren, who is hands down one of the most joyful people I’ve ever met was getting the finishing touches done on her hair and makeup. I have so many favorite moments from their wedding day. Like how nervous and excited Lauren was waiting for Dusty to walk up the steps of the Detroit Institute of Art to see her for the first time that day, and the look on Dusty’s face when he first saw her standing there in her Christina Wu dress. Or when Lauren surprised her mom with a dance. Parallel Fifth (the amazing band that played at their reception) began singing Sweet Child Of Mine and Lauren pulled her mom on the dance floor, I don’t know if there was a dry eye in the house! Not to mention they had the Violin Monster (who appeared on America’s Got Talent!) play during dinner! Needless to say this wedding was one that will always be a favorite of mine. Thank you so much Lauren and Dusty for asking me to be your photographer and to capture these special moments for you! Here’s a preview of their wedding day 💗
