Where do I even start?? The Vette wedding was unlike any wedding we have ever shot. It was clear when our Calhoun county commissioner, Kathy-Sue, reached out to me that she wanted this day to be about family. She told me all about her amazing husband to be, Terry. We talked about how the wedding would be at their lake house on Country Club Dr. in Battle Creek, which has the most amazing view of Goguac Lake! We talked about how it was going to be a very intimate wedding, with 30 of their closest friends and family, so I knew it was going to be a very special and meaningful day for everyone involved. On the day of the wedding, the bride wore a navy dress, her fiance’s favorite color. (How sweet!) They opted for yellow flowers with hints of blue created by the very talented Tracy Park of Park Place Design. They even put yellow and blue bows on the dogs! You all know I love wedding details. One thing that makes them extra special is when these details have meaning or have been passed down through generations and the Vette wedding did not disappoint! Kathy-Sue wore her mother’s pearl necklace. The necklace was a wedding gift from her father to her mother in 1942! Her “something borrowed” was her daughter Suzee’s ring that belonged to Kathy-Sue’s great Aunt. She also wore earrings that were her paternal grandmother’s and carried handkerchiefs that both her mother and maternal grandmother carried on their wedding days! Kathy-Sue also bought all 9 of the girls who were part of the wedding a gorgeous Tiffany’s bracelet to wear. Kathy-Sue was walked down the aisle by her oldest son Budde, and Terry’s oldest son, Bobby. After a very emotional ceremony, officiated by her best friend Sue, they had their friend Steven (who happens to be a professional chef!) make everyone brunch. They popped open a bottle of 2004 Dom Perignon Rose that was a gift from their friend Suzanne and then the daughter of the bride, Suzee, gave a very sweet toast about her new siblings. When it came time to sign the marriage license, Kathy-Sue’s daughter, Suzee, and Terry’s daughter, Erika, were the ones to sign as witnesses. The entire day was about how these two families were coming together as one and it couldn’t have been more special. After brunch Kathy-Sue and Terry had a surprise, they had customized shirts made for all of their guests! Everyone changed into something more casual (and their new shirts!) and they spent the afternoon riding the boats and jet skis on the lake. That evening we walked to the golf course and made our way out to hole 8 to take some photos. This is where Terry proposed! To end the evening we went back to the lake house for cake, cake pops and ice cream! The desserts were made by Sue’s daughters, Lilly Isabelle and Tessa and topped with more sentimental pieces, like the cake topper which was Kathy-Sue’s parents!
